Kathleen Warnock is a New York City-based playwright. She grew up in Philadelphia, and also lived and worked in the Deep South. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, where she majored in Ancient Studies. She was Assistant to the Artistic Director, Sabra Jones, at Mirror Repertory Company, the off-Broadway alternating repertory company, Geraldine Page, Artist in Residence. She has studied playwriting with Henry Miller, Susan Miller, Nicole Burdette and Tina Howe. She is one of the founding members of En Avant Playwrights, a collaborative group of theater artists who have produced work ranging from evenings of original one-acts, to full-length entries in FringeNYC and FrigidNY. She also maintains the En Avant Playwrights bulletin board, which collects and posts opportunities for playwrights to submit their work (since 2003). To the Top, a full-length play, won the South Carolina Playwrights Festival, and was produced by Trustus Theater (SC). Her full-length play, Grieving for Genevievewas produced in the Midtown International Theater Festival (NY). It won the John Golden Award for Playwriting. Rock the Line was produced by Emerging Artists Theater (NY) and won the Robert Chesley Award for Emerging Playwright. Some Are People was also produced by EAT in NYC and at the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. Some Are People won the Arts & Letters Prize. Outlookwas also produced by EAT in Dublin. That's Her Way premiered at FrigidNY in Feb. 2013, and was seen in Dublin in May, where it was nominated for the Oscar Wilde Award, and later for the New York Innovative Theater Award. Her full-length, one-act and short plays have been seen regionally and internationally. She is Playwrights Company Manager for EAT and curates the Robert Chesley/Jane Chambers Playwrights Project for TOSOS. She is Ambassador of Love for North America for the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. Kathleen's fiction, non-fiction and interviews have appeared in many print and online publications. She was series editor for Best Lesbian Erotica 2010-2014. She wrote the liner notes for the Joan Jett CD "Unfinished Business." Kathleen hosts Drunken! Careening! Writers! a monthly reading series at KGB Bar, since 2004. She tweets @kwarnockny. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
