After careers as a Navy pilot and a high school English teacher, Steve Warren made the leap to writing stage and screen plays. He has had several plays produced, including a reading at the York Theatre in New York. His play Rebel Yells, nominated for 11 Austin Circle of Theatres awards (ACOTs) has been produced in eight theatres so far across the country and its still going. His musical Gone to Texas and his one-man show The Confessions of Davy Crocket have also been produced multiple times. The Crockett play is published along with his play The Wisdom of Children and can be found on Amazon.com. His screenplays have been optioned and have won national contests. Steve lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Debbi.

Synopsis:
Two Civil War soldiers, one Yankee and one Confederate, meet between the battle lines for a game of checkers and more.

Notes:
The Samuel French staff would like to congratulate the 30 playwrights selected to participate in the 40th Annual Off Off Broadway Short Play Festival! Chosen from nearly fifteen-hundred submissions (a record breaking number) both in the U.S. and abroad, these 30 plays will be presented in New York from August 3  9, 2015. Out of these plays, six winners will be selected by the Samuel French, Inc. editorial staff to receive publication and licensing contracts.
