Megan Weaver is a director, deviser and playwright specializing in form-fracturing new plays, devised work, and site-specific explorations. Since 2006, Megan has devised, developed and directed over thirty productions of new and established work. Megan originally hails from Portland, Oregon, where she earned her BA in Directing from George Fox University. She is a proud alum of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center's National Theater Institute, and has trained with The Wooster Group and SITI Company. She is now an MFA Directing candidate at Arizona State University's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. In recent years, Megan's focus has turned toward digital multimedia integration, devising techniques, and director-designer conceptual processes as a source for new work. Her roots in Shakespeare and psychological realism counterbalance these experimental avenues; leading to work that is formally innovative, visually rich and psychologically resonant. Her most recent projects include POVV (Prisoner of View/Point of War), a devised piece on themes of humanity and ethics in the digital age of drone technology and Internet journalism, and CAUSE OF FAILURE, an original play on the surreal absurdity of terminal illness, which was developed through FullStop Collective's Play Development Series and produced at the 2012 New York International Fringe Festival. Megan is a founding member and Director of Finance of FullStop Collective, a New York theater collaborative devoted to the development and production of innovative new plays. She has served as Artistic Director of Dramatic Productions at Mystic Seaport, executive artistic assistant at Chicago's Collaboraction, and an adjunct professor of theater at George Fox University.
