How can any banjo player, however gifted, begin to pluck a note when some philistine has stolen his instrument, by George? How can he possibly hope to entertain the eager throng until a replacement banjo arrives, by Jove? Is there no one to step in and snatch the charred streaky from the bonfire, by Jeeves? By Jeeves. . .

School of Rock, The
Synopsis:
SCHOOL OF ROCK is a brand new musical based on the famous Paramount film written by Mike White, which starred Jack Black. The musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. Completely disinterested in academic work, Dewey decides to create his own curriculum, turning his class into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. The stage musical is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has composed 14 new songs to create a score, which also features all the original songs from the movie. SCHOOL OF ROCK, with its sensational live kids rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music.

Song And Dance
Synopsis:
The first half, "Tell Me on a Sundav" is given over to a one-woman show by Marti Webb. Don Black's lyrics about an English girl who spends most of her time in the States either grizzling for Mum, Muswell Hill and Tizer or getting herself into a mess over a "variety of boy-friends. Th. second half is a semi abstract ballet to Lloyd Webber's variations on Paganini's A minor Caprice No 24. The idea -little flirtations and quarrels between young people is as old as Nijinsky's "Les Biches" or Ashton's" Les Rendezvous" but it provides the acrobatic Wayne Sleep and an athletic team of dancers with amusing material. especially when they all break into tap.
