[Photo: Michael Bennett Kress] End Papers is one of Barry Weinberg's three full-length plays, including The Cafe on the Corner and The Main Chance. Before being selected for production by the AACTNewPlayFest, End Papers was workshopped by the Theatrical Mining Company, Baltimore, and Playwrights Forum, Rockville, Md., and was chosen for readings by the Baltimore Playwrights Festival, the Reston Community Players' New Play Project and the Atlantic Stage New Play Festival. Weinberg's short play, The Prize, won Theater J's 5x5 Playwriting Festival in Washington, D.C. Since he retired in 2000 after 35 years as a civil rights lawyer in the U.S. Justice Department, in addition to writing plays, Weinberg has been an international election observer and has lectured overseas and in the United States on election dispute adjudication. The second edition of his book, The Resolution of Election Disputes, was published in November 2008. Weinberg is a member of the Playwrights Forum and The Dramatists Guild and lives in Bethesda, Md.

End Papers
Kathy has to use all her ingenuity and intelligence if she is to avoid losing her home and all her possessions after her husband's secret life is exposed. At the same time, she is forced to fend off unwelcome romantic overtures from the old boyfriend who reappears in her life. Kathy is convinced she can build a money-making business out of End Papers, the used bookstore where she works, and is encouraged by the store's 80-year-old owner. But if she is to make her plan a reality, Kathy must use all her wiles to deal with her husband and ex-boyfriend, both of whom insist on dominating her affections and stifling her independence.
