David was born in 1969 in St. Louis but was raised in a town called Lake St. Louis which is identical to St. Louis except that the name takes up more space on an envelope. He spent his childhood memorizing dialogue from the plays of Christopher Durang and John Guare. He received his BA from the University of Missouri, Kansas City and his MFA from the University of Pittsburgh. He spent several years as an actor in Chicago before moving to New Jersey and becoming the Associate Artistic Director and Resident Playwright at Passage Theatre in Trenton, NJ. Since arriving in New Jersey, hes been lucky enough to work with playwrights such as William Mastrosimone, Leslie Ayvazian, Caridad Svitch and Lauren Weedman among many others. He also runs the Passage Play Lab which has aided in the development of plays by Ian August, R.N. Sandberg, EM Lewis, Jim Christy Jr. and several other New Jersey based playwrights. His play BLOOD: A COMEDY has been produced at Passage Theatre and Dreamcatcher Rep. SLIPPERY AS SIN recently received its world premiere at Passage as well. The one-act play WHITE BABY was originally produced at Passage Theatre, then at Emerging Artists Theatre. It also received a live-radio broadcast by Combustible Radio Theatre. He is also the author of the novel FANTOMAS IN AMERICA which was published in 2007 by Black Coat Press.

Backfire
Synopsis:
Two people meet at their 40th high school reunion and wind up sleeping with one another, only to discover that one of them doesn't actually remember who the other one is. It's a comedy, but with a bit of a cynical ending. Feel free to play around with ages. If you want them to have just been to their 20th or 30th reunion, feel free to change a line or two and cast some younger actors.

Chocolate Chip Fridays
Synopsis:
A comedy about a young, female executive stuck in a job interview with an older woman who has recently been laid off from her prior job and has no social or job skills. Sally is an over-the-top character, at times, but much like the other characters in my plays, there is an element of loneliness and melancholy to her that keeps the play grounded.

Dream Tim
Synopsis:
a college professor (Phil) gives a lecture about his break up with his boyfriend (Tim). In a bit of surreal absurdity, he uses a "visual aid" named Dream Tim who is not actually Tim, but an image of Tim that he has created to illustrate all of the real Tim's problems. There are a few offstage voices that are supposed to be students. Feel free to reassign those lines to Dream Tim or Phil if that makes things easier.

Entree
Synopsis:
This is a comedy about an older man who goes out on a blind date and runs into his ex-wife at the same restaurant. It's a comedy and has elements of farce to it, but there is a bit of melancholy and loneliness running through all of the characters and that should really come out in the playing of it.

White Baby
Synopsis:
T'his is an absurdist comedy (although honestly, it's not that far away from the truth) about a couple trying to adopt a Chinese baby. My wife and I were going through something similar at the time and I was amazed about the level of personal information that all these baby experts wanted. Some of them also seemed to enjoy the power they had over us a wee bit too much. Miss Obsidian is kind of over-the-top, obviously...although I've been told by people who work in the adoption industry that she's not too far off the mark.
