Sally Wilden has written plays for theatre, radio television and film. Her first play, Expansion, was staged at the Wolsey Theatre in 1990. She toured Codes of Practice in East Anglia, playing at The Mercury Studio Theatre, Colchester, The Little Theatre, Sherringham and The Studio, New Wolsey Theatre. Her award-winning play The Wall, was broadcasted by the BBC in 1994 and her stage play Sea Change was short-listed by Channel 4. The UK Film Council granted a script development award for her full length feature film Someone Awake Somewhere.

Synopsis:
A young woman visits her doctor and describes a mysterious set of symptoms. Baffled, the doctor investigates and comes to some very strange conclusions. A wry look at medical practices and how communication can break down between patient and doctor.

Expansion

Synopsis:
In the Commedia dell'Arte tradition, the play offers comment on the expansionist legacy of the Thatcher era. Two brothers, owners of a butchers' shop, have desires on their neighbour's property. One way and another all characters get more than they bargained for.

Synopsis:
A young man lies in hospital unable to communicate with his girl friend and his best friend. He can hear their conversation but cannot speak. The three find themselves in a tangled web of misunderstandings, secret desires and desperate rivalry.

Two communities live on an estate in fear and distrust of one another. There is a sense of a modern borderland .with a deep suspicion of the unknown. An incident is misinterpreted resulting in hostile and violent action with tragic consequences for one of the young people.

Wall, The

Synopsis:
A man's ambition to transform his garden into a paradise is quietly but persistently mocked by his neighbour. Goaded by his neighbour's unwelcome interference, he is driven to adopt bizarre ways to avoid him. In the end, his vision of paradise turns out to be a wilderness.
