Jason Wilkins -- who would never stoop so low as to write his own bio in the third person -- was born in Maine and has lived in Portland (the largest city in the Pine Tree State) for most of his adult life. He has been a practicing writer and musician since the 80s, and a practicing redhead much longer than that. A guitarist and songwriter since high school, JW has by now written more than 200 songs. He is a member of the Maine Songwriters Association and plays the occasional gig. These days, his songs are most often heard as part of musicals. He has written two: Naked In Portland, which was successfully staged in 2003, and the as-yet-unstaged Shameless! (all about gay rights vs. the religious right). In recent years JW has focused on writing comedy for his friends in The Escapists, a Portland-based comedy/sketch troupe. His 10-minute play "Kickass Librarian" (written with the Escapists in mind) was chosen for the 2006 Boston Theater Marathon and has been performed by several New England theater companies. It will appear in 2008 as part of a short play anthology assembled by theatrical publisher Smith & Kraus.

The kickass librarian serves her patrons, stands up for democracy, defends the collected wisdom of the ages, thwarts an attempt to shred the Bill of Rights, and scores a hot date. Just another day at the library. . .
