Les Winspear has established a broad based career as a playwright, actor and director. His plays include outdoor theatre, early childhood, primary age, community and historically based pieces. He was an actor and founding member of Riverina Theatre Co, worked with Salamanca Theatre Co, and helped found Zootango Theatre Co in Hobart. While with Zootango, he was instrumental in the development and presentation of family shows in the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Subsequently, he helped found Theatre Alfresco, a cooperative which provides quality theatre in the Gardens over summer. He has created plays for Big Monkey Inc, Theatre Alfresco, Salamanca Theatre Company, Terrapin Theatre, Port Arthur Historic Site, the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, the National Maritime Museum and the Flinders Island Festival.

Monkey
Synopsis:

Robin Hood And His Merry Band
Synopsis:
Frustrated by Robin Hood in his attempts to collect taxes, the Sheriff of Nottingham decides to build a ring-road around Sherwood Forest and charge everyone a toll for using it. With his new-found wealth he wants to construct the biggest castle in the kingdom before the king returns from France.To put an end to his megalomania Jill Scarlet and Friar Tuck head off to Sherwood to enlist the help of the benevolent outlaw. But their plans are thwarted when Friar Tuck is arrested and Robin is challenged by the Sheriff's strong-arm man, the pungent Grotty Guy of Guisbourne. Robin looks doomed but Maid Marian has plans of her own to put things to rights.
