Bernard and Bosie: A Most Unlikely Friendship
Synopsis:
In an age of instant communication through e-mail and cellular phones, Bernard and Bosie is a reminder of the intimate and 'old-fashioned' art of letter writing. The play explores the complex relationship between literary giant George Bernard Shaw and the poet Lord Alfred Douglas through their personal letters in the 1930s and 40s. The two men are from opposite ends of the spectrum, however, they manage to connect and form a friendship, and eventually a kind of Father/Son relationship, over the course of their correspondence. The actors read and perform the letters aloud and what is created is an evocative, touching, and frequently funny-but often telling-pair of character studies.
Notes:
Actors Barry Morse And Hayward Morse portrayed the characters of 'Bernard' And 'Bosie'.
