Perri Yaniv was born and raised in New York City. His interests in overlapping patterns that cross through society and the arts lead him into the research for "Word Infirmia: The Criminal Perspectives Project" while attending a criminology class and directing Laurence Fishburne's play "Riff Raff" at Wesleyan University. He succeeded in completing a double major in Sociology and Theater; for his thesis work around The Criminal Perspectives Project, he received a Davenport from the Sociology Department, and graduated with High Honors in the Theater Department. Upon his graduation, his solo performance of Word Infirmia performed around the New York area (most notably as part of the New York International Fringe Festival), and in Montreal. His research work with hospitals in NYC has lead to conceptual research projects involving urban demographics within the Health Care system, and he has been a part of several performance collectives in the creation of new works for the theater, most notably Bone Orchard's "Times365:24:7," which premiered at the Brick Theater in Brooklyn. Recent performance credits in New York City include "The Dybbuk" with Marvell Repertory Theatre, "Riding in Cars with Hezbollah" at the Culture Project, and "The Power of the Trinity" under the direction of Alfred Preisser for NYC's SummerStage. He is a proud member of Actors Equity Association.

Word Infirmia: The Criminal Perspectives Project
Synopsis:
Using transcripts from his 2003 Criminal Perspectives project interviews, Perri Yaniv creates a constantly morphing discussion about how crime is defined by incarcerated men and women, ex-cons, police officers, administrators and victims.
Notes:
The material-simple responses to simple questions-is utterly illuminating And real. While it may not be surprising, it breathes flesh And blood into our ideas of truth And personal responsibility. From Julie Blumenthal's nytheatre.com review, August 2005.
