Anna Yen is a performer, director, theatre maker, movement teacher, writer and Feldenkrais Method ® practitioner. Anna's work spans theatre, contemporary circus, physical theatre, street theatre and film. Anna teaches in universities, communities, companies, festivals and schools. A highlight of Anna's work is her acclaimed one-woman show Chinese Take Away and its film adaptation (Looking Glass Pictures), which has taken her to festivals in Australia, Asia, Europe and USA. Anna performed in Phoenix Rising - Woodford Festival (2011), Waterwheel Project (2011), Sticks and Stones Collective's Eye to Eye Creative Development, The Case of All Things - Magnificent Object Workers (2010 and 2008); Karaoke King - Short Film; Wicked Bodies (Zen Zen Zo / La Boite Theatre); Cravings (Vulcana Women's Circus);Load-Ed Stories (Qld Theatre Company); After China(CINOVA), and with Rock'n'Roll Circus ( now Circa) for 4 years. Anna directed Stuffed Up (Griffith Uni 2010), Emma Miller Stands for Peace and Freedom (WILPF 2010), Dimboola (UQ 2009); TABOO (Amnesty International /QUT/ Vena Cava 2008), Stop Violence Against Women Project 2007, Lives and Loves (Ausdance/ECCQ); Manga Metropolis (Backbone Youth Arts); Aviatrix (Vulcana); co-directed Blissed Out, Distraught and Intoxicated (Vulcana)& and Fire in the Belly(Vulcana); and was assistant director on AWGIE award winning Kese Solwata (KITE/QPAC). Anna received a Churchill Fellowship in 2002, Best Actor (Female) Qld Short Film Festival 2006, and a Matilda Award Special Commendation. Anna's PlayMoves - Movement for Performance Workshops have been held in Hobart, Wollongong, Townsville, Melbourne and Brisbane.
