Mr Pickwick
Synopsis:
assembles two dozen of Dickens oddest characters, including Sam Weller and his father, the jaunty Alfred Jingle, Buzfuz the lawyer, Miss Wardle the collector of moths (day moths only, because she is a maiden lady and does not go out at night), the fat boy Joe and Mrs. Leo Hunter, a Nineteenth Century combination of Perle Mesta and Jennie Grossinger. the comedy comes to its climax in the famous court scene where Pickwick is sentenced to prison as a result of his unwise friendliness for Mrs. Bardell.
