Beware Of Pity
Synopsis:
Ungeduld des Herzens / Beware of Pity published in 1939, is a tense and claustrophobic account of a young mans slide into a terrible situation, and his inability to extricate himself from it. Its a devastating depiction of honour, love and betrayal, realised against the background of the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, and the rise of anti-Semitism. Simon McBurney's production will be in German and features the Schaubuhnes ensemble of actors. Young soldier Hofmiller is invited to Baron Kekesfalvas castle. The soiree is a success: Hofmiller manages to entertain with one amusing anecdote after another. Inebriated by his accomplishment, he asks Edith, the hosts daughter, for a dance. But Edith blanches. Hofmiller recognises he has committed a faux pas, but only when the girl9s cousin explains that Edith is paralised does he comprehend the extent of his offence and flees the castle. The following morning he sends flowers and Edith retaliates with an invitation to tea. Soon, Hofmiller is a daily guest at the castle, not noticing that the mentally fragile Edith has fallen desperately in love with him. When Hofmiller understands the truth, he proposes marriage, but once Edith realises that this has only happened out of pity, her initial delight mutates into a despairing rage

Blood
Synopsis:
Lars Noren's 1995 play is a strange and challenging commentary on the inhumanity of contemporary political conflicts. His message is that modern war is so horrible that it warps its survivors permanently, a point he underlines by breaking many of the unwritten rules of psychological Drama.
Karen Fricker, the Guardian

Eldorado
Anton's got it made: dream house, artistic wife, baby on the way. And, as the smoke rises from another city saved by coalition bombs, there's a fortune to be made rebuilding the wreckage. So what's he doing forging his boss's signature? And why has his wife crushed her hands under the piano lid? Painfully funny scenes of married bliss in meltdown and the insistent presence, on their screens and in their dreams, of the West's far-flung and half-forgotten wars Eldorado asks what happens when the drive for success carries us past our coping point.

Fireface
Synopsis:
Marius von Mayenburg's incendiary piece of stage poetry about incest and murder is like Fassbinder doing Ian McEwan's Cement Garden. It features a nuclear fainily disintegrating for no particularly good reason. Mum and Dad are perfectly cool, even if Dad spends too much time quoting atrocities from the daily paper and even If Mum insists on washing herself Inunodestly in front of the children - and it's the children that this play is all about. Olga is desperate to fill out her boob tube and not so much lose as destroy her virginity. Little brother Kurt, meanwhile, fmds puberty rudely reversing his desire to return to the womb. Olga's response is to fool around with Kurt and get her hands on the first available bloke, Paul. Paul Is a football-shirted youth with a motorbike who warns that he is also a decent, sensitive soul. But Kurt is a slower burning fuse and, like any good, seif-disrespecting teenager, he turns his rising hormonal rage into dangerous, customised nihilism.

Fraulein Julie
Synopsis:
Strindberg's tragedy is reimagined for the multimedia age as theatrical performance and live filming techniques converge, lending fresh cinematic perspective to a classic story. Aristocratic Julie and Jean, a servant in her household, are entangled in a sexually charged game. But as their dangerous pursuit of one another escalates, Strindberg's play finds a new focus. For it is Jean's fiancee, a cook of few words, who is given a voice in this moving adaptation that uses real-time film and sound effects to track the life-changing events through Kristin's eyes.

Martyr
How far will you go for what you believe? Benjamin won't do swimming at school. His mother thinks it's drugs or he's got body issues. But Benjamin has found God and mixed-sex swimming lessons offend him. Fundamentalism and tolerance clash in this funny, provocative play by leading German playwright, Marius von Mayenburg. Martyr considers how far we should go in accommodating another's faith, and when we should take a stand for our own opposing beliefs

Perplex
Taking inspiration from Pirandello's Six Characters in Search of an Author, as well as the pens of Stoppard, Nietzsche and Beckett, influential writer Marius von Mayenburg has created a fast-paced and very funny piece of contemporary absurdism. The four actors play musical chairs with their characters in an astonishing tumble of scenes. Their characters are patchwork individuals, groping for assurance and security in a constantly disintegrating reality, while slipping on the metaphysical banana peels von Mayenburg throws in their path. A comedy about the capriciousness of reality, one's own identity, and the theatre itself.
