Assistant, The

Synopsis:
Turtle Shell Productions presents the world premiere of Bernard Malamud's the Assistant, adapted for the stage by Martin Zuckerman. This new play tells a story of the colorful richness and depth of man's moral struggle through the trials of Morris Bober, a deli owner in 1940s Brooklyn, as he humbly and steadfastly lives a loving, virtuous life amidst profound personal and economic challenges. Zuckerman's focus in this adaptation is on "the relationship between Morris, a failed grocer, and Frank, an outsider who had done Morris harm. Frank sees the gentle humanity in Morris, who becomes the Father he never had."
