His work has been translated into several languages, including English. He won the prestigious Prix Interallie in 2004 for his novel "Fascination of Evil" ("La Fascination du Pire") and several Moliere Awards (highest theatrical honour) for his plays La Mere and Le Pere. Florian Zeller wrote his first novel "Artificial Snow" when he was twenty-two years old. He has written five acclaimed novels and nine plays. Florian Zeller has fast become one of France's most well-known contemporary playwrights. L'Autre, le Manege , Si tu mourais, Elle t'attend, La Mere (Moliere Award in 2011) La Verite and Une heure de Tranquillite were successfully produced in France and internationally. It won the Prix du Brigadier (Professionals voting) in 2015. Une Heure de Tranquillite (A bit of peace and quiet) starring star actor Fabrice Luchini has been turned into a movie directed by Patrice Leconte as well as Le Pere under the title Floride starring Jean Rochefort and Sandrine Kiberlain (released August 2015). Le Mensonge (The Lie) opened at Theatre Edouard VII - Paris in September 2015, starring Pierre Arditi and actress wife Evelyne Bouix. His plays La Mere, Le Pere, La Verite (translated by Christopher Hampton) and Une Heure de Tranquillite (translated by Jeremy Sams) are under option for the UK/USA. The Father opened to great success first at the Ustinov Studio in Bath, revived at the Tricycle, and the Wyndhams and soon at the Duke of York. The Mother followed the same way and should be revived in the fall 2016 in a West End theatre. The Truth is opening at the Menier Chocolate Factory March 10, 2016. Florian Zeller lives in Paris. He is married to ex-model, actress and sculptor Marine Delterme, who played one of the main roles in the Parisian production of his play "Le Manege".

Michel is six months into an affair with Alice, the wife of his best friend Paul, who's been the lover of Michel's wife, Laurence, for the past 18 months, neatly pulling the wool over Michel's eyes, who, let's face it, isn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier, besides being a serial liar. How all this works out is at the heart of The Truth, an impudent, enjoyable farce about lying and the unexpected consequences thereof by France's newest favourite playwright, 35-year-old Florian Zeller. The essential prerequisite for the good liar is the unimpeachable innocence s/he presents to the world. Michel tries hard, but he's not very good at it. Compared to the rest, he's a naif, a babe in the woods, so that disaster almost happens, but hey, this is a farce, so a Happy Ending is a must. | ||||||
